Donald Donald Trump has declared he is raising import taxes on items shipped from Canadian sources after the province of the Ontario government broadcast an anti-tariff advertisement featuring ex-President Ronald Reagan.

In a social media update on the weekend, the President labeled the advert a "misrepresentation" and condemned Canadian leaders for not removing it prior to the baseball championship.

"Due to their major misrepresentation of the reality, and hostile act, I am increasing the Tariff on Canada by 10 percent in addition to what they are paying now," he stated.

After the President on last Thursday pulled out of trade talks with Canada, the Ontario's leader said he would pull the advertisement.

The Province Reaction

Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced on last Friday that he would halt his province's anti-tariff ad campaign in the America, telling the media that he made the decision after talks with the Prime Minister the Canadian PM "so that trade negotiations can restart".

He also said it would still run over the weekend, featuring matches for the World Series, which includes the Toronto team against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Commercial Background

Canada is the sole G7 nation that has not secured a agreement with the United States since Donald Trump commenced seeking to levy steep tariffs on products from primary trading partners.

The America has previously imposed a thirty-five percent tax on every Canadian items - though the majority are exempt under an current free trade agreement. It has furthermore slapped targeted duties on Canada's products, featuring a fifty percent levy on metal products and 25% on cars.

In his post, published while he was en route to Asia, the President appeared to state he was imposing 10 percent to these duties.

Three-quarters of Canada's overseas sales are sold to the United States, and the region is the location of the bulk of Canada's automobile manufacturing.

Reagan Commercial Information

The commercial, which was sponsored by the Ontario government, references late President Reagan, a conservative icon and symbol of conservative values, stating import taxes "harm every American".

The advertisement uses clips from a 1987 radio speech that focused on international trade.

The Foundation, which is tasked with maintaining the late president's heritage, had condemned the commercial for using "selective" audio and video and claimed it distorted Reagan's 1987 speech. It also said the Ontario government had not sought authorization to use it.

Continuing Conflicts

In his update on Truth Social on the weekend, Trump said that the commercial should have been taken down earlier.

"Ontario's Advertisement was to be pulled IMMEDIATELY, but they let it run last night during the MLB finals, knowing that it was a DECEPTION," Trump stated, while flying to Southeast Asia.

Doug Ford had previously promised to broadcast the Ronald Reagan advert in every Republican district in the United States.

The two Trump and Mark Carney will be participating in the ASEAN in Southeast Asia, but the President advised the media joining him on Air Force One that he does not have any "desire" of conferring with his Canadian counterpart during the journey.

In his message, Trump further accused Canadian officials of trying to affect an upcoming American high court legal case which could halt his whole import duty program.

The case, to be considered by the highest US court in the coming weeks, will rule on whether the tariffs are constitutional.

On Thursday, Trump also condemned, claiming that the advertisement was intended to "tamper" with "the most significant legal case"

MLB Finals Link

The Reagan commercial is not the sole way that the region – location of the Toronto Blue Jays – is using the baseball championship as a stage to criticize the President's duties.

In a clip published on Friday, the Premier and Gavin Newsom Gavin Newsom humorously made bets about which side would succeed in the finals.

The two leaders repeatedly teased about tariffs in the clip, with the Premier pledging to provide Newsom a tin of syrup if the LA Dodgers succeed.

"The import tax might charge me a higher price at the crossing these days, but it'll be acceptable," Ford said.

In answer, the Governor requested Ford to continue enabling US-made alcohol to be sold in province beverage outlets, and promised to deliver "the state's championship-worthy wine" if the Toronto team triumph.

They concluded their dialogue together saying: "Cheers to a fantastic MLB finals, and a tariff-free friendship between the region and CA."
