David Walliams dropped by book publisher.

The author

Prolific children's author and comedian David Walliams is no longer with his longtime publishing house, according to an announcement.

A spokesman for the company commented: "Upon deliberation, and with the guidance of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK will not be releasing future works by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the decision was taken subsequent to an inquiry regarding reports of inappropriate behaviour involving women.

The company did not confirm the reasons for its decision, stating: "We do not comment on private personnel issues."

A Highly Successful Publishing History

Walliams is one of the UK's most prolific writers for young readers, having sold more than 60 million copies globally in five dozen languages.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, was published by HarperCollins back in 2008.

Some of his titles, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have subsequently been turned into TV movies.

His bibliography includes more than 40 books in total, including a holiday title titled *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins this past October.

Television and Literature

His initial claim to fame came on the TV sketch series *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was made an OBE several years ago honoring his contributions to philanthropic and artistic endeavors.

This move occurs subsequent to the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive this past October.
